Beach Bums

Since the kids didn't have school on Monday, my friend Shelly and I decided to take our kids to the beach. Our beach days have been few and far between since I've been pregnant, and now having a newborn. Shelly and I set up some lounge chairs in the shade, and let the kids play for a few hours. It was pure bliss! The kids love to hunt for crabs. Usually they find tons of sand crabs, but this time they found a real crab. They were able to capture it in their bucket to show us. If I were a seafood fan, I might have been tempted to steam it up and eat it. The kids might have been sad to eat their pet, though.

Masen did amazingly well. We just spread out a blanket for him to lay in the shade, and he just chilled. He is a beach bum in the making. I guess I might need to get him a swimming suit soon.

So fun! Glad that you were able to relax and enjoy the day. You will have to try steaming up an island favorite called PeePeePees. They are the little black shelled snails found on the rocks. If you want the recipe let me know! 8) After the meat is eaten out of the shells the shells are returned to the ocean and are washed up onto the beach pure white. Then the shells are re-gathered and made into white shelled leis. They are beautiful.

My kids would of been right with yours finding the crabs and capturing them. We will have to try to come out and visit sometime. Hawaii looks beautiful from the pictures :)

Lynn... I really would like to come visit you- especially when I read things like this. The day I either 1) win the lotto or 2) find a magic carpet - I'll visit you.

... ah... you said it was pure bliss?

hmm...

hey, I got the kids' letters! Tell them I said thanks a billion! I finally did book a week vacation for less than I had budgeted :D

Okay... so it's Mesquite... but it's not in a casino. It's at a resort that doesn't allow any smoking on their property. That says something right? Also, I think we'll be going to Zions and things like that a lot of the time. Maybe... Maybe we'll even visit Vegas... probably not though.

Talk to ya later!
